Flipped Classroom

Hi everyone!

In this post, I will explain what the flipped classroom approach is and share my experience of shooting a video for it.

The flipped classroom approach is a teaching method where traditional lecture content is delivered outside the classroom, often through videos or online materials provided by teachers, while class time is used for interactive activities, discussions, and problem-solving.

It can be very advantageous if used efficiently. For example, it allows students to learn at their own pace with flexible access to materials and students come to class already familiar with the basic concepts which makes in-class activities more productive. Besides, it promotes interactive class activities and collaboration among students. However, it has also many drawbacks. Some students may not have access to the necessary technological devices or a stable internet connection. They may come to class unprepared or not understand the lecture at all. Additionally, teachers may struggle to prepare high-quality videos and online materials for every lesson, it can be very time-consuming.

I would rarely use flipped classroom teaching for some suitable topics. I don't think it's a bright idea to give students the responsibility of understanding the lesson through a video with no real interaction. They can ask about points they do not understand before in-class activities, but this can be very time-consuming and it is more effective for students to ask what they do not understand during the lesson. However, the flipped classroom approach is not entirely ineffective. In my opinion, it can be both practical and enjoyable, especially for simpler vocabulary topics that can be beneficial in later interactive in-class activities.

We (me and my teammates) prepared a vocabulary teaching flipped classroom video based on sports and activities. We tried nearly all the websites that our instructor sent us to prepare an animation but we couldn't handle it. They were very restricted and didn't give us the results that we wanted. So we prepared our video on Canva (real hero). We created most of the visuals we wanted using Canva's AI tool. We recorded and added our videos and voices easily. We put some suitable music to make it more fun :). Finally, we prepared a fun game where students can reinforce what they learned in the video. Don't worry I'm going to add the website link to the game :)

I think it was a difficult task, but our team handled it very professionally, as always 😎

I will add the link to the video below. Thank you for reading my posts ♥. Stick around 🤩
