Hello there! Last post of the year 🎄🎉

In this post, I will explain what AR and VR are, their differences, and our last assignment about them.

AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) are immersive technologies that blend the real and digital worlds but in different ways. AR adds digital elements such as images, sounds, or other virtual content into the real world around you through devices like smartphones, tablets, or AR glasses. It enhances the real-world environment by allowing you to interact with both real and virtual objects. On the other hand, VR creates a fully immersive digital environment, replacing the real world entirely. You can experience VR through specialized headsets. We can give examples like Pokémon GO and Snapchat filters for AR, and virtual tours and training simulations for VR. Both have advantages and disadvantages.

AR makes real-world experiences more engaging and it’s easy to use. However, it may cause potential privacy problems because it uses cameras and location data. VR is great for escaping reality or practicing skills in a safe, controlled environment. However, it can be expensive since it requires specialized equipment.

Our latest assignment involves designing AR- or VR-integrated teaching materials. We have two options for the subject: exploring a city abroad or exploring a global issue. We prepared our handout material in Canva (as always). We included icons for Rome's historical sites (two landmarks and one museum) along with their VR QR codes. The VR simulations provide information boxes for each location, and students answer questions based on this information. Additionally, we created a page about Italian food (tiramisu) with questions aimed at improving students' creativity and critical thinking skills. Lastly, we prepared an authentic assignment in which students write an email as if they had traveled to Rome.

I will add the link of the worksheet below. Thank you for reading my posts ♥. Stick around 🤩
